I happened upon two wonderful blog/websites today while doing research for an article. One is by the designer Stuart Anderson and teaches all about making patterns for stretch fabrics. While they are based on basic patterns, the patterns for stretch fabrics are made differently in order to account for the stretch factor in the fabric. The Pattern School website is full of free lessons and tutorials! While it is intended for design school students, anyone with basic patternmaking knowledge will find it quite understandable. Another great resource is Fashion Students Online. Also with tutorials and great resources making fashion design available to everyone!
"Stuart Anderson is a retired patternmaker and designer for swimwear and other stretch fabrics. Through dedication, passion and interest he practically invented the methods used by most stretch fabric patternmakers. Although retired he makes himself and his knowledge available online through his free online course and blog, PatternSchool.com." - Interview with Fashion Students Online
